On the nose, the 2019 BERG ROSENECK GG presents itself with delicate floral notes and a very juicy, creamy texture. The vintage has endowed this BERG ROSENECK GG with a broad and spicy flavor profile, once again surprising with subtle herbal notes that offer an almost endless finish and produce a wonderfully straightforward wine style. It is interesting to see how the vineyard has developed in recent years and how delicately the quartzite minerality manages to assert itself against the subtle floral and herbal aromas. This BERG ROSENECK GG already impresses with a very sophisticated opening and will unfold its full radiance with increasing age. The wine spent 21 months on the lees and was bottled in July 2021.

Roseneck Mountain

The BERG ROSENECK vineyard is characterized by striking granite boulders covered with wild roses, rosehips, and blackthorn – hence its original name "Rosenhecke" (Rose Hedge). The first vineyards were established here around 1200, initially stretching up the mountain in small terraces. In the 18th century, fortified paths with walls along the mountainside were built.

The slate-quartzite soils with loess loam deposits produce characterful, well-structured wines with pronounced acidity and excellent aging potential. The steep vineyards, with slopes of up to 50%, are largely cultivated using cable winches and benefit from their south-facing position and the protection afforded by the Taunus ridge. Particularly in the western section, known as the "Katerloch," they are among the steepest vineyards in Germany.
