On the nose, the BERG ROTTLAND presents itself in a manner very typical of its vineyard site, with enormous fruitiness and lush exoticism. Aromas of papaya, mango, and passion fruit dominate; ripe figs and orange blossoms are also discernible. On the palate, the lush tropical fruit combines with very dominant citrus notes and orange zest. The BERG ROTTLAND Auslese from this fantastic vintage is very juicy and yet clear; we also appreciate its slightly herbal nuances and, at the beginning, very subtle smoky notes. We are delighted by the prospect that this wine will only reach its full potential in 10 to 15 years.

Berg Rottland

The vineyard on the western edge of Rüdesheim is perfectly south-facing and has a 33% slope. Its soil consists of weathered Hunsrück slate, characterized by its grey-blue color and marine origin.

The humus-rich surface is covered with slate slabs and fine slate grit, ensuring good aeration. The stone covering protects against drying out and erosion, while the soil is enriched by loess and mineral-rich topsoil.

Thanks to the nutrient-rich slate, the grapes ripen particularly early here and benefit from optimal conditions.
